Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: Nine accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 491 calls between Jan. 24 and Jan. 30 and year to date, LCSO has responded to 1824 calls.

Summonses

On Jan. 23, Elizabeth L. Bruno, 35, of Wiscasset was issued a summons for Passing a Stopped School Bus, on Federal Street, Wiscasset, by Detective Jared Mitkus.

On Jan. 26, Alicea Socrates, 30, of Poughkeepsie, New York was issued a summons for Operating without a License, on Route 1, Newcastle, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.

On Jan. 27, Steven J. Ewing, 41, of Waldoboro was issued a summons for Operating while License Suspended or Revoked - prior, on Route 1, Newcastle, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.

Arrests

On Jan. 24, Tiffanee E. Fraughton, 44, of Bristol was arrested for Violating Condition of Release, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy James Read.

On Jan. 24, Timothy J. Ferrell, 20, of Westport Island was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault; Domestic Violence Criminal Mischief and Minor Possessing Alcohol, on Cromwell Road, Westport Island, by Deputy Jonathan Colby, who was assisted by Wiscasset PD Chief Jeffrey Lange.

On Jan. 29, Maitland R. Williams, 36, of Bremen was arrested on a Lincoln County District Court warrant for Failure to Appear, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy William Owen.

Accidents

On Jan. 23, an accident occurred on Washington Road in Waldoboro involving Melinda D. Butterfield, 37, of Waldoboro and Gifford T. Campbell, 62, of Waldoboro. Ms. Butterfield was operating her 2011 Toyota eastbound on Old Augusta Road and had stopped at the stop sign located at the intersection with Washington Road. Mr. Campbell was operating his 2011 Int’l Harvester and plowing the roadway on Washington Road and began backing up onto the Old Augusta Road, where he did not see Butterfield’s vehicle and struck her front bumper. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 23, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Patrick Regan, 27, of Augusta.  Mr. Regan was operating his 20016 GMC southbound when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line and entered the northbound ditch. His vehicle then struck a mailbox post and continued into the ditch and rolled onto its side. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 23, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Cassandra E. Panarese, 23, of Wiscasset. Ms. Panarese was operating her 2005 Subaru Legacy southbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow/slush covered roadway. As a result, Ms. Panarese over corrected and her vehicle then left the roadway. Lt. Brendan Kane was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 24, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Jefferson involving Karl K. Kittredge, 34, of Chelsea and Leon D. Crockett, 75, of Farmingdale. Mr. Kittredge was operating his 2006 Nissan Maxima eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice covered roadway and began to spin. Kittredge’s vehicle then continued down the hill backwards and entered the westbound lane, where he struck Mr. Crockett’s 2004 Freightliner truck, who was operating westbound. Crockett continued into the westbound ditch and the passenger of Kittredge’s vehicle was ejected and came to rest in the westbound lane. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 24, an accident occurred on Cedar Grove Road in Dresden involving Gale A. Waycott, 37, of Dresden. Mr. Waycott was operating his 2004 Ford Ranger northbound when he hit a patch of ice, while rounding a curve. As a result, he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and came to rest on the vehicle’s roof. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 24, an accident occurred on Patricktown Road in Somerville involving Emily Casella, 20, of Somerville. Ms. Casella was operating her 1997 Jeep Cherokee westbound and while coming down a hill, her vehicle encountered significant ice on the roadway. As a result, her vehicle went off the road and rolled over into a ditch and came to rest on the driver’s side. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 25, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving Meredith Tisbert, 33, of Alna. Ms. Tisbert was operating her 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound when she struck an icy patch on a sharp downhill corner. As a result, she lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway, coming to rest on the vehicle’s roof. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 26, an accident occurred on Doyle Road in Whitefield involving Kenneth E. Ripley, 37, of Whitefield and Sandra R. Griffin, 78, of Edgecomb. Mr. Ripley was operating his 2001 Ford F350 northbound when Ms. Griffin pulled her 2014 Ford Focus out of a residence on Doyle Road, making a left turn in front of Ripley’s vehicle, causing a head-on collision. Deputy Ryan Chubbuck was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 29, an accident occurred on Main Street in Newcastle involving Alice S. Ruppert, 81, of Edgecomb and Joshua T. Richards, 24, of Damariscotta. Ms. Ruppert was operating her 2006 Ford Taurus eastbound on Main Street and Mr. Richards was facing southbound at the Glidden Street/Main Street intersection stop sign in his 2004 Hyundai Elantra. Richards, after looking both ways, pulled out of Glidden Street to turn left onto Main Street and struck Ruppert’s vehicle. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
