Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: Several snow-related accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 357 calls between Jan. 24 and Feb. 6 and, year to date, LCSO has responded to 2,181 calls.

On Feb. 2, Deputy Chad Gilbert responded to a report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle in the Jefferson area.  The complainant stated that sometime after 1500 hours on Feb. 1 and noontime, Feb. 2, someone(s) broke the window out of his vehicle (approximate damage $500). Further investigation as leads develop.

Summonses

On Feb. 3, Melanie L. Allen, 43, of Jefferson was issued a summons for Operating after Suspension – priors, on Gardiner Road, Whitefield, by Detective Scott Hayden.

On Feb. 4, Owen J. Gilbert, 19, of Waldoboro was issued summonses for Furnishing Place for Minors to Consume/Possess Liquor and Minor Possessing Liquor, on North Mountain Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.

On Feb. 4, Wesley R. Collamore, 18, of Bristol was issued a summons for Minor Possessing Liquor, on North Mountain Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.

On Feb. 4, Taylah A. Benner, 20, of Bristol was issued a summons for Minor Possessing Liquor, on North Mountain Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.

On Feb. 4, Samuel Adams, 20, of Thornton, Colorado was issued a summons for Minor Possessing Liquor, on North Mountain Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.

On Feb. 5, Mark Hayward, 58, of Jefferson was issued summonses for Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer and Violation of the Adult Services Protective Act, on Atkins Road, Jefferson, by Detective Scott Hayden.

Arrests

On Feb. 3, Philip D. Kelley Jr., 38, of Bremen was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release, on Diniston Road, Bremen, by Deputy Ryan Chubbuck.

On Feb. 5, Nathaniel A. Grasser, 23, of Dresden was arrested for a Lincoln County District Court warrant for Unpaid Fines, at the Lincoln County Courthouse, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy William Owen.

Accidents

On Jan. 30, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Kristina E. Simmons, 25, of Nobleboro. Ms. Simmons was operating her 2006 Mazda 6 southbound when she lost control of her vehicle and entered the southbound ditch. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 30, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Edwynna M. Crute, 56, of Cushing. Ms. Crute was approaching the Upper East Pond Road intersection in her 2003 Honda Element and was unable to stop. As a result, her vehicle continued through the intersection, crossed the road and entered the southbound ditch of East Pond Road. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 30, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Thomas W. Erskine, 57, of Boothbay and Jayson A. Lynch, 19, of Dresden. Mr. Erskine was operating his 2005 Ford Ranger southbound when he lost control of his vehicle due to the snow covered road conditions. Mr. Lynch was operating his 2010 Toyota Tundra northbound on Route 27 and was struck by Erskine’s vehicle as they went past each other, causing front end damage to both vehicles. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 30, an accident occurred on Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson involving Owen M. Williamson, 16, of Jefferson. Mr. Williamson was operating his 2002 Mercury Mountaineer northbound when he lost control of his vehicle and entered the northbound ditch. His vehicle then struck several fence posts and continued into a telephone pole. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Jan. 30, an accident occurred on U.S. Route 1 in Newcastle involving Glenn A. Sabins, 58, of Union. Mr. Sabins was operating his 2005 Dodge 1500 southbound when he struck an icy section of the roadway and lost control of his vehicle. As a result, his vehicle struck a guardrail, causing front end damage. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 1, an accident occurred on Jefferson road in Whitefield involving Jay R. Berube, 47, of Whitefield. Mr. Berube was operating his 2007 Volvo S60 eastbound when he struck black ice and started to skid into the opposite lane. He then swerved to avoid another vehicle, causing his vehicle to go off the roadway and hit a tree with his mirror before coming to rest on a stone wall. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 1, an accident occurred on Pemaquid Harbor Road in Bristol involving Bronwen Hanna, 37, of Pemaquid. Ms. Hanna was operating her 2008 Subaru Outback northbound when she lost control of her vehicle. As a result, her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Sgt. Alan Shea was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 1, an accident occurred on Sheepscot Road in Newcastle involving Deric N. Verney, 32, of Newcastle. Mr. Verney was operating his 2016 Chevrolet Equinox southbound when he came upon two large trucks. Mr. Verney tried to avoid the trucks, however, due to the slippery road conditions, his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 1, an accident occurred on Bunker Hill Road in Newcastle involving Robert Kenney, 81, of Whitefield. Mr. Kenney was operating his 2003 Ford F-150 southbound when he traveled over to the right side of the travel lane as he crested a hill. Kenney moved over too far and went into a ditch. As a result, he damaged the front passenger side of his vehicle. Sgt. Alan Shea was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 2, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Jefferson involving Paul C. Hill, 30, of Turner and Christopher L. Wentworth, 40, of Chelsea. Mr. Wentworth was attempting to turn his 2012 Western Star tractor trailer right into a private driveway. Mr. Hill was operating his 2012 GMC Sierra eastbound and due to visibility issue, could not see the low bed equipment trailer partially blocking the roadway. Hill tried to avoid the trailer, however, struck the trailer, which then caused Wentworth’s vehicle to go off the left side of the roadway and make contact with a house. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 2, an accident occurred on Back River Road in Boothbay involving Justin H. Clark, 37, of Boothbay. Mr. Clark was operating his 2017 Ford F-350 southbound when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve. As a result, his vehicle left the roadway and went into a wooded area. Sgt. Alan Shea was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 2, an accident occurred on Desperado Lane in Newcastle involving Walter S. Alley, 54, of Newcastle and Holly C. Maglione, 29, of Topsham. Mr. Alley was operating his 1999 Volkswagen northbound and Ms. Maglione was following him in her 2009 Subaru, when Alley slowed to turn right onto Desperado Lane. Maglione could not slow down in time and as a result, struck the rear of Alley’s vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 2, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Alfred H. Little, 66, of Nobleboro. Mr. Little was operating his 2000 Ford Ranger westbound and coming down a hill, when due to extremely poor road conditions (slush/snow), his vehicle lost traction and went off the roadway and struck a mailbox and metal post. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 2, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Kevin M. Malone, 25, of Augusta. Mr. Malone was operating his 2013 Honda Civic eastbound and due to extremely poor road conditions (slush/snow), he lost control of his vehicle and went off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 2, an accident occurred on Pond Road in Newcastle involving Joseph V. Tatem, 52, of Damariscotta and Victoria L. Woodruff, 21, of Newcastle. Mr. Tatem was operating his 2011 Subaru Outback southbound and Ms. Woodruff was following Tatem’s vehicle in her 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. Tatem pulled to the right and slowed down for a wide load vehicle coming northbound on Route 215 and Woodruff tried to slow down in time, however, could not. As a result, Woodruff struck the rear of Tatem’s vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 4, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Adam J. Lepak, 37, of Jefferson. Mr. Lepak was operating his 2004 Toyota Tundra southbound when his vehicle skidded on the icy roadway. As a result, his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and sideways into some trees. Sgt. Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 5, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Lisa E. Levine, 47, of Fairfield and Robert E. Regut, 83, of Edgecomb. Ms. Levine was stopped at the intersection of Augusta Road/Waldoboro Road in her 2013 BMW, when Mr. Regut, due to low visibility, failed to negotiate a right hand turn and ran into Levine’s vehicle with his 2002 Subaru Impreza. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
