Lincoln County Sheriff's Office: Several storm-related accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

Recent summons

On Feb. 9, Joshua D. Benner, 28, of Waldoboro was issued a summons for Violating Conditions of Release, on Jones Woods Road, Newcastle, by Deputy Ryan Chubbuck.

Recent arrests

On Feb. 7, Amanda M. Spitzer, 35, of Mexico was arrested on a Franklin County warrant for Unpaid Fines, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy James Read.

On Feb. 9, Travis A. Skidgel, 29, of Windsor was arrested for Operating under the Influence, on Mills Road, Whitefield, by Deputy Ryan Chubbuck.

On Feb. 9, a 17-year-old male juvenile from Bristol was arrested for Operating Vehicle without License and Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, on Augusta Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.

Recent accidents

On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Turner Ridge Road in Somerville involving Kiersten A. Bumford, 22, of Augusta. Ms. Bumford was operating her 2005 Chevrolet Equinox northbound when she slid on the snow covered roadway.  As a result, her vehicle slid across the roadway, entered the southbound lane and into the tree line in the southbound ditch.  Her vehicle struck hard enough to bounce back into the roadway for final rest. Deputy First Class Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Mills Road in Newcastle involving Hannah J. Grady, 34, of Marshfield, Massachusetts.  Ms. Grady was operating her 1999 Ford F150 northbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow covered roadway. As a result, her vehicle slid off the roadway and onto its side. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 8, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Brenda L. Anderson, 50, of Bristol.  Ms. Anderson was operating her 2000 GMC 1500 northbound when she lost control, slid off the roadway and struck a guardrail and ditch. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 9, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Laura C. Cutler, 31, of Appleton. Ms. Cutler was operating her 2006 Toyota 4Runner southbound when she lost control of her vehicle. As a result, she struck a mailbox post and entered the northbound ditch. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 9, an accident occurred on U.S. Route 1 in Newcastle involving Patricia P. Cobb, 46, of North Anson and Jordan L. McHugh, 23, of Setauket, New York. Ms. Cobb was slowing her 2014 Subaru Outback in traffic, traveling northbound on the snow covered roadway. Ms. McHugh was operating her 2002 Subaru Forrester northbound, behind Cobb’s vehicle. McHugh was unable to slow and struck Cobb’s vehicle in the rear. Lt. Rand Maker was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 9, an accident occurred on Mills Road in Whitefield involving Travis A. Skidgel, 29, of Windsor. Mr. Skidgel was operating his 2005 Ford Escape northbound when due to road conditions and alcohol consumption, he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to go off the roadway and into the southbound ditch, where it struck a tree. Deputy Ryan Chubbuck was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 10, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Dresden involving Ryan M. Gibbs, 31, of Warren. Mr. Gibbs was operating his 1992 Ford Explorer westbound when due to icy road conditions, he lost control of his vehicle and struck a CMP pole. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 10, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Susan Bean, 64, of Boothbay and Casey R. Crewse, 33, of Boothbay. Mr. Crewse was operating his 2006 Dodge 3500 northbound and slowing in traffic for a vehicle turning in front of him. Ms. Bean was operating her 2017 Chrysler Pacifica northbound behind Crewse’s vehicle and was unable to stop due to icy road conditions and struck the rear of Crewse’s vehicle. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 10, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Bruce P. King, 77, of East Boothbay. Mr. King was backing his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a parking spot and did not see the gas pumps while backing. As a result, Mr. King struck the gas pump. Sgt. Alan Shea was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 10, an accident occurred on Cross Point Road in Edgecomb involving Brian D. Carver, 37, of Wiscasset. Mr. Carver was operating his 2013 Toyota Tundra southbound when a deer entered the roadway. Carver was unable to avoid striking the deer, causing front end damage to his vehicle. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 11, an accident occurred on Harriman Road in Bremen involving Joan W. Teele, 57, of Bremen. Ms. Teele was operating her 2013 Lincoln MRT northbound when due to icy road conditions, her vehicle went off the right side of the roadway on a corner and struck a rock wall. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Feb. 12, an accident occurred on West Hamlet Road in Newcastle involving Robert M. Dardis, 27, of Newcastle. Mr. Dardis was operating his 2000 Ford Excursion westbound and due to fatigue from working the snowstorms, he fell asleep at the wheel. As a result, his vehicle went off the road on the left side and struck a tree. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
