The Lincoln Home presents 'The Vivacious Dolley Madison'

Fri, 01/30/2015 - 10:00am

You will not want to miss noted lecturer and historian Jerry Wiles and his presentation on Dolley Madison, wife of President James Madison. We welcome the public to join us on Monday, Feb. 2, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Lincoln Home’s living room.

Known for her signature hospitality, Dolley served as both Thomas Jefferson’s and James Madison’s official hostess during their respective presidential terms. Dolley Madison made her way through Washington society and the politics of the early republic by balancing her inherent charm and beauty with an unmatched political savvy. Her final legacy was to inspire the term by which presidents’ wives have been known ever since. Dolley Madison helped define what it meant to be a first lady and in turn, a political partner.

The Lincoln Home is located at 22 River Road, overlooking the Damariscotta River, in Newcastle. For more information, please contact marketing director, Linda Lowell, at 207-563-3350.
