Sat, 01/31/2015 - 8:00am

Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, located at 521 Main Street in Damariscotta, will host its weekly Lunch and Learn program on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 11:15 a.m.

Following the luncheon, Daniel Goodman, Traffic Safety Specialist from AAA of Northern New England will present a program titled "Keeping the Keys; Help Extend Your Safe Driving Career."

Goodman will provide luncheon guests with information that will help older drivers, younger ones too, be proactive in managing their driving careers, recognizing changes in driving that come with age and planning ahead for continued mobility. He will also offer an overview of resources that can help accomplish those things.

Advanced luncheon reservations are required. Please call 207-563-1363 by noon on Monday, Feb. 2 to make your luncheon reservation entrée selection (Chicken Parmesan with Pasta Noodles). Cost: $5 per person for luncheon guests over 60. All others $6 per person. Can't make it to lunch? Community members are always welcome to attend the Center's Wednesday Learn portion of the day's Lunch and Learn program, which will begin at approximately noon.

AAA's Safe Driving for Mature Operators Program, designed for mature drivers 55 years of age and older who are interested in the effects aging has on their driving ability is also offered at Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center.

This four-hour course taught by volunteer instructor Joyce Polyniak is designed to increase safe driving awareness and confidence behind the wheel. State law requires auto insurance company to provide discount after completion. (Cost $15 for AAA members; $20 for non-members). Joyce's next seminar will take place during the month of March. For more information and to register, call 207-563-1363.
