Maine PTAC Gains Lincoln County Presence

Tue, 02/06/2018 - 8:00am

Maine PTAC (Procurement Technical Assistance Center) is partnering with Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission to host Procurement Counselor Bryan Wallace to meet with Lincoln County businesses, at least two days each month.

Maine PTAC works with Maine-based companies interested in selling their products or services to local, state or federal government agencies, either as prime contractors or subcontractors. Wallace can assist companies to identify opportunities, develop marketing strategies, and guide you through the complex process of government registrations and assist you in becoming a qualified government contractor. In addition, Maine PTAC can also assist with proposal preparation and post-award assistance.

Two upcoming dates – Wed., Feb. 14 and Wed., March 7 – have been set for appointments at the LCRPC’s office, at 297 Bath Road in Wiscasset. If you’d like to drop in and learn more, please email Wallace at bwallace@emdc.org or call 951-0644. There is no cost for Maine PTAC services.

Recently Maine PTAC has assisted a two-employee landscaping business who wanted to bid on town/city and municipality owned properties and mowing/landscaping opportunities. This business had built a loyal residential customer base but they didn’t know how to identify or pursue government contracting opportunities. Bryan Wallace met with the owners and guided them through the first few steps of registering their business so they could to respond and compete for federal, state and local contracts.

Maine PTAC also helped Greisen Aerospace with registering as a vendor with the federal government. Greisen is an AS9100-registered engineering firm located in Brunswick. They utilize Maine PTAC’s MyBidmatch system to identify contracting opportunities, including winning a contract to design and manufacture inspection stands for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program and a contract with the US Air Force to provide container inspection stands to Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. Maine PTAC counselors also were invaluable in answering questions about the federal acquisition rules, allowing Greisen Aerospace to win and fulfill these contracts.

If you’re interested in making government contracting a part of your business plan, please contact Bryan Wallace  or the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission at 882-5983.
