    Dear Editor:

On June 13, we have a responsibility to go to the polls to elect two new members of our Board of Selectmen. We are fortunate to have five very qualified candidates, but my vote will be for Katharine Martin-Savage.

Kathy has lived in Wiscasset since 1980, and over these 37 years, she has contributed to the well being of this community in so many ways. In addition to serving on many boards (Selectmen, Planning, Budget, Two Bridges Jail Board, Friends of the Library, and several others), Kathy has worked with almost every organization which makes Wiscasset the town we love. Her varied and continuous service has given her the experience which leads to solutions.

Loyalty is a quality that isn’t often mentioned in a candidate’s list of qualifications, but Kathy has never wavered in her support of not only the town, but all the people who work hard to make Wiscasset run. She has bonds of friendship and shared efforts with so many people, which means she is the perfect candidate to bring the various groups together to find solutions to Wiscasset’s current issues. From taxes, to economic development, to the quality and growth of our schools, Kathy has thoughtful ideas on how to meet our ever changing challenges.

Katharine believes that Wiscasset is blessed with enormous potential for development, which can be realized without losing the essential beauty and character of our small town. She has the time, the commitment, and the loyalty to lead us through the changes which are coming. Her experience equals solutions, and I hope you will join me in casting your vote for Katharine Martin-Savage on Tuesday, June 13.

    Linda Winterberg
