When a person experiences the death of a loved one, their life is forever changed. While there is no single solution to loss, a grief support group can allow people who have lost a loved one to share their struggles with others.

Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice is offering a new grief support group at Cove’s Edge on the Miles Campus of LincolnHealth in Damariscotta on Tuesday evenings.

Skilled facilitators will introduce members and encourage them to provide emotional and spiritual support to one another in a nonjudgmental confidential environment, according to Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice Bereavement Services Coordinator Connie Jones.

“In a culture that often avoids talking about loss, support groups give their members the opportunity to share their stories openly and without guilt. Members can also hear the stories of others and talk about the struggles of coping day-to-day as well as on the most difficult days of our journeys,” said Jones.

In addition to providing grief and bereavement services, Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice offers a comprehensive range of services from companionship to highly-technical hospice, skilled nursing and therapy in homes and facilities throughout Midcoast Maine. LincolnHealth grief support groups are free but registration is required.
