Nancy Jeanne Roberts, 74, of Boothbay Harbor died peacefully at her home on Sept. 11, 2014. She was born on June 22, 1940 in New London, Connecticut.

Nancy moved to Maine at an early age, spending most of her formative years on Barters and Hodgdon Islands in Boothbay. She played basketball and acted in her senior play, graduating from Boothbay Region High School in 1958.

She married Wendell B. Pinkham upon graduation and became a homemaker while raising two children. Nancy and Wendell moved to New Jersey where she became a cosmetic consultant traveling extensively for Revlon. She was managing cosmetic counters in several major department stores. Her work preference was retail.

After Wendell died in 1981, Nancy left the cosmetic business and crewed her way to Florida’s Palm Beach Shores on a small schooner, eventually working primarily in the catering business. She was also a volunteer at the Palm Beach Shores hospital. She returned to Maine, living in Brunswick, working in retail and doing volunteer work. She later moved to Boothbay Harbor when she retired in 1998. She continued her volunteering and loved her work at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.

Nancy was an avid reader, often reading four or five books a week. She liked classical and jazz music, was an excellent cook, but also enjoyed dining out. She generally walked several miles a day, all the while enjoying birds, animals, and flowers and loved all things beautiful. Nancy had a flair for decorating her homes as well. She spent hours as she hooked rugs and tapestries.

Nancy was generous and gregarious with an infectious smile. She was always considerate of others, and had many friends who will miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her father and mother, John A. and Virginia Hodgdon Roberts; her husband of 23 years, Wendell Pinkham; and sister, Virginia Ruth Roberts.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Evelyn P. Earley and her husband, Steve F., of Colebrook, New Hampshire; son, Jonathan W. Pinkham and companion Aimee Ouellet, of Cohasset, Massachusetts; her companion, Fred Bergquist, of Boothbay Harbor and South Carolina; two brothers, Eugene Roberts of Boothbay and South Carolina and John Roberts and his wife, Sheri, of Blaine, Washington, and Vancouver, Canada; two sisters, Rebecca Traquair and her husband, Russell, of Boothbay, and Sarah Laurie and her husband, Lucian, of King George, Virginia; and an aunt, Deborah Westbrook of Augusta; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
