National Garden Club president plans visit

The National Garden Club President Linda Nelson will attend The Garden Club Federation of Maine Fall Conference at the Augusta Civic Center on Oct. 30.

The meeting, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., includes vendors, exhibits, speakers on growing cranberries and conserving habitats for pollinators. A tour of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay is planned for Linda Nelson, along with Kathleen Marty, president of the Garden Club Federation, and others from the federation on Oct. 29.

This is the 83rd fall conference business meeting for all the garden club members who belong to the federation. The slate of officers for the 2015-2017 terms will be announced along with reports and awards for the garden clubs.
