Nomination papers for the Wiscasset select board, school committee and other local offices for the June 13 elections will be available Monday, March 20. The deadline for returning them to the town office is the close of the working day on May 1.

Town Clerk Linda Perry said among the seats up for election are two, two-year seats on the select board. David Cherry and Lawrence Gordon Jr. currently hold the seats.

There is one seat available on the five-member school committee. The three-year seat held by Chelsea Taylor expires in June. Also on the ballot are two, three-year trustee terms on the Wiscasset Water District; those seats are currently held by Gregg Wood and George Knight. There are eight vacancies on the budget committee: three, three-year terms; three, two-year terms; and two, one-year terms.

Perry said nomination papers are available during regular business hours. The town office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Papers must be turned in with 25-100 signatures of Wiscasset voters.

Absentee ballots will be available on May 12, 30 days prior to the election. Perry said new residents could register at the town office during business hours or at the polls the day of the election. The polls at the community center will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
