According to a letter from Ralph Doering’s attorney, David Soule, the offer of $75,000 to help the town with legal costs related to the lawsuit against Maine Department of Transportation has been rescinded.

In an April 19 letter to selectmen, Soule writes, in part, “In light of Tuesday’s vote, I am instructed to close the escrow account referenced in my previous letter and to rescind the offer of reimbursing litigation costs to keep (the town’s) suit against MDOT alive and will be returning funds to those who have donated.”

Selectmen had made no decision on the offer. Members had agreed in principle it was a matter the townspeople would have to vote on.
