Tue, 09/02/2014 - 3:00pm

River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting the public to an opening reception on Aug. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. for a solo show in the West Gallery featuring the work of Mac Economy of Warren. The exhibition will run through Sept. 10.

Economy is a professional musician and guitar instructor and operates K2 Music musical instrument store in Camden. He began painting abstract art as a new creative outlet only five years ago and has gotten much local attention. Having music as an outlet for over 30 years, Economy has learned to communicate his thoughts and emotions through art. Using the same approach in painting of “opening up” and letting the ideas flow, he creates paintings from that are reflective of his outlook on life. Economy’s art is very original and focuses on deep texture with strong color contrasts. Using acrylics and mixed media, Economy’s art is truly contemporary, and has been described as bold, vibrant, volcanic and even magnetic.

Economy gets his inspiration for his art from his life experiences and observations.

“Life is full of contrasts, my art reflects some of the extreme contrasts seen in our human experience,” he said. Visit www.maceconomyart.com for more information.
