Wiscasset’s town planner of the last three years, Misty Parker, is headed to Lewiston for a job with the city as an economic development specialist.

“It’s a great loss to Wiscasset,” Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce treasurer and former chairman David Stapp said Sept. 25. “I’m disappointed, but Lewiston is definitely getting a great asset.”

Parker, of Dresden, confirmed her plans in a brief telephone interview Thursday. Her last day on the job in Wiscasset is Oct. 3; she declined further comment.

In a Sept. 22 resignation letter, Parker calls her time in the Wiscasset position a rewarding experience, and says she has appreciated the opportunity serve Wiscasset residents.

“I am pleased to have been part of many great accomplishments in the community, including the Molnlycke expansion, Bath Road Master Plan and waterfront village projects, which I believe will serve the community well into the future,” Parker writes. “Additionally, I am thankful to have worked with Wiscasset’s talented business community, dedicated Chamber (of Commerce) board, and the very hard-working staff of the town of Wiscasset.”

“The town office is very sad,” Wiscasset Town Clerk Christine Wolfe commented Thursday about Parker’s pending departure.

The town is advertising for the planner’s position on the Maine Municipal Association website and the town website, at www.wiscasset.org. Click on employment opportunities under the “Resources” heading.

The ad calls for resumes to be in to the town office by 3 p.m. Oct. 3.

In recent years, Wiscasset’s budget committee has suggested the town eliminate the planner job or cut its hours. But in the end each year, voters have passed budgets that kept it full time.
