Penobscot Language School offers French classes in Damariscotta

Two French classes are scheduled to start the third week in January at Damariscotta Baptist Church in Damariscotta. Seasoned instructor, Margot Stiassni, will conduct both classes. Stiassni holds degrees in French language and literature from both Williams College and Stanford University.

Parlez Français Avec Confiance! is a conversation course suitable for a wide range of beginner and low-intermediate learners and is perfect for prospective travelers and those who want to revive their rusty French. Mini-voyages to France, Guadeloupe and Quebec, songs, games, drills, tasting regional specialties, travel expressions, pronunciation, verbs, useful grammar and culture information are used to reinforce conversational skills and cultural knowledge. This class will be offered for six weeks on Tuesdays, 5:45-7:15 p.m. and Thursdays, 2:15-3:45 p.m. starting the week of January 19. Students may participate in one or both evenings. The cost is $135 per person for one evening or $270 for both.

Vive le Français! is an informal conversation class for intermediate level students who want to further their communication skills. Vocabulary topics, grammar explanations and assistance with pronunciation will be included. This class is offered on Tuesdays, 4-5:30 p.m. starting January 20 at $135 per person.
