Peter Boice Wagstaff, 75, of Boothbay Harbor Maine, died May 16, 2016 surrounded by his family.

He was born October 30, 1940 in Boothbay. He attended Boothbay schools and lived his whole life in the Boothbay area. He married his sweetheart Verona (Ronnie) Emory. Together they shared a true love story for over 52 years.

Peter was an easily recognizable man with his tall stature, beautiful smile, and twinkling eyes. Some of his most notable traits were his ever present patience, kindness and loving gentle nature. He loved the water, sailing, swimming and lobstering. He enjoyed going herring fishing with his close friend, Charlie Begin. He was a crew member on the tug C.A. Harrington that sailed with the Sherman Zwicker to Nova Scotia and to the tall ships celebration in New York in 1986.

He loved to "putter" in his workshop and could fix or create anything. He also loved animals, big and small, and enjoyed feeding the chipmunks that would come to visit him in his shop. One of his favorite hobbies was to salvage metal. He enjoyed camping and canoeing. He liked to go on road trips with his wife and with his daughter Jess, exploring the less traveled roads and making sure they came home with a muddy truck. He also enjoyed visiting with old friends at the Community Center in the Meadow Mall.

He loved old classic country music and enjoyed singing along to his favorite tunes, often singing special songs to his family. He was singing until the end. Most of all he loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was a hard worker all his life. His first work, was the work he did growing up on a farm. After he finished school, he went to work for a shipyard in East Boothbay. He then went to work with his father at Maine DOT. He worked many jobs including construction with Don Leavitt for many years and then as a carpenter with Ed Harding. He also ran the Sears Catalog store in Boothbay Harbor with his wife for many years. His last job was as a maintenance man for St. Andrews Hospital, where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 2008.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles B. and Ella G. Wagstaff; his brothers, Jack and Chuck Wagstaff; his sister, Ruthie McClellan; and his grandson, Bradford Pinkham.
