It is with deep regret that we announce the loss of Philip D. Giantris. Philip died suddenly on Oct. 19, 2017 in a hospital in Tirana, Albania, surrounded by family and friends. He was 74 years old and a current resident of Southport Island, Maine.

Philip was born and grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, in a tight-knit Albanian community. His parents were Albanian immigrants who moved to the United States in the early 1920’s and raised him and his siblings with enormous love for their Albanian roots and culture and for the Albanian Orthodox Church.

His funeral service is Friday, Oct. 27 with a service at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Cathedral, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester.  Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church.

In lieu of flowers, the Giantris family asks that donations instead be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
