Pirates at St. Andrew’s Church offer great eats in June 23 fundraiser

Tue, 06/19/2018 - 8:15am

The corner of Glidden Street and Main Street in Newcastle will be the site for a pop-up cafe and outdoor hangout for kids and parents going to Damariscotta’s Pirate Rendezvous on June 23. The great eats include pulled pork, Cuban sandwiches, Fruity Booty, Cannonballs, paella salad, Pirate Cookies and grilled hot dogs. For those who are not faint of heart, there also will be Shark Bait, Parrot Pellets and Fool’s Gold. Come try them all, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. this coming Saturday. All proceeds will go to benefit St. Andrew’s outreach programs in Lincoln County, Lewiston and Haiti.

While you are there, have your picture taken with Peter “The Pirate” Parrot who will be at the center of the action, possibly at the refreshment table where Hurricane Punch, iced tea and hot coffee will be served. Just follow your way across the bridge into Newcastle, past Sproul’s Furniture, and you can join the fun. Children are especially welcome.

At noon on Sunday at St. Andrew’s Church, there will be a drawing from raffle tickets for two free tickets to a Damariscotta River cruise on the 49-passenger River Tripper. The cruise takes in oyster farms, ospreys, harbor seals, on-board dining (champagne and oysters) and the Frances Perkins house site — for two hours on a mutually agreeable date. Tickets are $31 but these two are free, thanks to Damariscotta River Cruises and Captain Chip Holmes.
