Robert A. Heroy

Robert A. "Bob" Heroy, a former resident of the Boothbay region, died March 17, 2016 at the Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, Florida.

He was born June 20, 1931 in Rhinebeck, New York to Cora and Harold Heroy.

Bob retired from the IBM Corporation after 40 years of service.

He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg, Florida.

He graduated from New Paltz High School in New Paltz, New York and had the honor of being the first student at the school to score a touchdown for their football team. As a young man, he loved all sports and played Triple A baseball as a pitcher for the Trenton Braves until an arm injury forced him to retire. He was an avid golfer who played as often as he could.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Connie Venetis Heroy; three beautiful children, Kia Concepcion (David) Rice, Glen (Barbara Levine) Heroy, and Mechele (Wodan) Vanderlaan; a sister, Marjorie (Bob) Ronder; sister-in-law, Barbara Heroy; six grandchildren, Chandra (A. J.), Zak, Caiyana, September Dawn, Jalen and Tessa; and one great-grandchild, Dominic.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Bill Heroy and Dick Heroy and his wife, Dee Heroy.

A celebration of Bob's life is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29 at the St. James Episcopal Church, Leesburg, Florida.

ln lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Bob's name to: Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778, or a charity of your choice.
