Robert P. Kiley, 80, of Damariscotta died May 30, 2015, at home with his family.

He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1935 to M. Marcus and Jane Ruddy Kiley. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 57 years, Patricia Buckley Kiley.

Bob attended Springfield public schools finishing as a graduate of the Technical High School in 1952. He was a graduate of Yale University where he earned a degree in industrial administration in 1956. He spent two years in the United States Army from 1956-1958 with postings at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland and Fort Ord in California. In 1962 he began a 28-year career at the Tampax Corporation, finishing as Executive Vice President of the International Division, where he was responsible for operations and distribution in over 130 countries and was instrumental in opening up new markets in the People’s Republic of China and the former USSR.

In 1987, he retired to Maine where he remained a member of the Damariscotta and Lincoln County community until this week. Throughout his life, service to the community was always a priority. A strong advocate of public education, he served on school boards in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. His service also included numerous alumni organizations from his beloved Yale, including interviewing prospective candidates seeking to join the university he valued so much.

He was a lifelong Rotarian, a founding member of the Clarendon (Vermont) Volunteer Fire Department, and a director of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. Bob sat on numerous boards and committees and, until recently, faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels in Lincoln County.

He is survived by his wife Pat; his three sons, Michael of St. Simons Island, Georgia, Kevin of East Boothbay and Peter of Atlanta, Georgia and Damariscotta; and his brother, Bernard of Marshfield, Massachusetts.

A funeral Mass in celebration of Bob’s life will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3 with a reception immediately after in the church hall.
