Ronald A. MacElman

Ronald A. “Spanky” MacElman Sr., 73, of Bath died June 5, 2015 at his residence.

He was born in Bath on Nov. 20, 1941, a son of Harold and Elizabeth (MacDonald) MacElman. He attended Bath schools and was employed at Bath Iron Works in department 39 as a grinder. In 1962 he moved to New Hampshire and was employed at Granite State Park.

In 1968 he returned to Bath and was employed as a truck driver for Crooker, Gibbons Oil, Dead River and Brunswick Coal and Lumber. On Jan. 27, 1973 he married Claire M. Blanchette. From 1974 to 1978 he worked for the Bath Police Reserves.

He was a life member of the Bath Lodge of Elks.

He is survived by his former wife and friend, Claire MacElman of Bath; three sons, Tom E. MacElman and his wife Mary of Wiscasset, Ronald A. MacElman Jr. of Massachusetts, and John MacElman of Spring Hills, Florida; three granddaughters, Jennifer Billings, Jessica MacElman and Ashlie MacElman; and one great-granddaughter, Sadie Taylor.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at Calvary Cemetery in Bath with an Elks service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O.
