Sally Ann Sherman died peacefully on July 8, 2016 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine. She was a lifelong resident of Boothbay and made her home on Barters Island with her husband John for over 40 years. She was born in Boothbay Harbor to Robert and Geraldine Davis.

She attended local schools and worked at several area hotels over the years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her time with her husband John traveling long weekend trips down east to Bar Harbor, going to flea markets, adding to her collections and traveling around the state to enjoy a good Bingo game. Her interests were cooking, gardening and making crafts. She was a very talented seamstress making many of her family's handmade quilts, crocheting afghans and making braided rugs. She was a lover of animals. She had many cats and golden retrievers  in her lifetime, and her poodle (Teddy Roosevelt).

Although confined to a wheelchair in later years, it never stopped her from pursuing the things that brought her joy. Of particular enjoyment were her weekly games with her many good friends at St. Andrews Village, her trips to the Botanical Gardens with her special friend Jerie, and selling her craftwork at the kiosk at the Gregory Wing.

She was predeceased by her husband, John; her sister, Jean Condon; and brothers Lee Davis and George Davis.

She is survived by sons, Robert Sherman, and Mark and his wife Suzannne Sherman of Trevett; daughter, Pamela and her husband Charles Lafferty of Harpswell; grandchildren, Gage Sherman and his partner Emily Cowing of Edgecomb, Chase Sherman of Trevett, Shawn Lafferty of Harpswell and Christopher and his wife Willow Lafferty of Tampa, Florida; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Jaxon Sherman of Edgecomb and Matthew and William Lafferty of Tampa, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.

Graveside services for the family will be private.
