Sara “Sally” Nichols, a longtime resident of Wiscasset, died July 5, 2016.

Sally’s family and friends have been blessed with her many candid and compelling pieces of advice or expressions throughout her 80 years. Some of the most memorable include: “just between me, you and the cat …”; “always be careful of what you post on “space book”; “keep your money in order and facing the same direction,”; “when it comes to the front door one must always slam it!”

She made sure the “deweys” (squirrels) were better fed than the birds and cats and better fed than humans. She was the first to remember someone’s birthday or significant date, and always made sure to send a card. She spent countless hours supporting her children and grandchildren at all of their sporting events.

She is survived by three sons, Terry and wife Carla, Todd and wife Elaine, and Randy and wife Karen; as well as son-in-law, Rob Winfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two cats, Smudge and Maggie; and friends far and wide.

She is now reunited with her husband, Willis; parents, Herbert and Faye Schwartz; daughter, Rebecca Winfield; and granddaughter, Jessica Nichols.

The family is planning a celebration of life. The date and time will be announced at a later date.
