Skidompha book shop’s half-price sale Dec. 20-24

Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta will hold its popular storewide half-price sale from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, until the shop closes for Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 24 at 3 p.m.

Take 50 percent off the marked price of every item in the store, including books, CDs, DVDs, videotapes, and puzzles.

After nearly a year in its spacious location on Backstreet Landing, says Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, “customers tell us they love shopping in our new space. It’s bright, airy, and relaxing. We hope people will come in and let us help them choose gifts, or stock up on their own reading for the winter months.”

Special holiday hours are Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The shop will be closed during Christmas week. Then, for the first time, volunteers have decided not take their traditional January break. The shop will re-open on Jan. 2 with its full regular schedule: Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays open until 6 p.m., closed Sunday.

The book shop is a major source of funding for Skidompha Public Library, providing support for the library’s collection as well as for its many programs in the arts, culture, science, and education. All items are donated, staff members are volunteers, and all proceeds go to the library. Donations are accepted whenever a volunteer is at the shop to receive them.

For more information about the shop, visit the library’s website, skidompha.org, or phone the shop at 563-7807 during open hours.
