Special Olympics Maine launch ‘Scarf Project’

Organizers seek knitters, crocheters
Fri, 10/24/2014 - 9:30am

Special Olympics Maine is reaching out to people who knit or crochet to help with their 2015 Scarf Project. The goal of this project is to outfit all 500 Special Olympic Maine athletes who attend the state winter games in January with a new scarf.

The Scarf Project is a wonderful opportunity for people who would like to volunteer for Special Olympics, but perhaps not able to get to an event.

The scarves are seen as an outward display of support, dedication, pride and encouragement for the athletes.

This year's colors for the scarves are: Red Heart yarn, Carrot #256, Burgundy #376, and Paddy Green #368

The design/pattern is totally up to you. Please combine all three colors in to the scarf. (The majority of our athletes are teens and adults.)

Special Olympics Maine would like to thank Katheryn Wildes and the Trinity Lutheran Church for taking on this year's scarf project.

Scarves can be mailed/delivered (by Jan. 16) to: Attn: Katheryn Wildes, Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., Westbrook, ME 04092
