St. Giles Jefferson Country Fair takes place July 26

Wed, 07/23/2014 - 1:15pm

Parishioners at St. Giles Episcopal Church in Jefferson are completing months of preparations for this year’s country fair — the 60th in the series of these festive annual events. The fair is scheduled for Saturday July 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the church grounds.

The stock of goods for this year's silent auction is accumulating in the church basement, and will be supplemented, as in years past, by services offered by local businesses. Donations to the auction would be a great way to dispose of usable but no-longer-needed items in your own household, and area residents are invited to contribute. Call the number below to make arrangements.

Live music will be a main feature of the Fair, with performances this year by singer-songwriter Christine McCormick and composer-guitarist Matthew Knight, along with the popular duo from past Fairs, Pixie Lauer and Dan Townsend and their irresistible folk and blues repertoire.

Scrappy the Clown will be on hand again, doing magic tricks and making balloon animals. Another highlight of the fair will be the raffle of an original Lu Archer quilt.

To top off your lunch of burgers or brats, or the hot dog meal deal, you’ll have a choice of ice cream sundaes with homemade toppings.

The Fair offerings will include hundreds of books and dozens of craft items. A Garden Corner will feature plants, tools and accessories for sale, plus free advice from our resident master gardener. The St. Giles Pantry will offer homemade baked goods, fresh vegetables, jams, jellies and other specialty items. Another reason to drop by is a sale of dozens of freshly baked homemade pies.

St. Giles is located at 72 Gardiner Road (Route 126), one quarter mile west of the junction of 126 and Route 213 (Bunker Hill Road). Call 207-549-7950 for more information.
