Stanley P. Clark Jr., 83, of Boothbay Harbor, and a former longtime resident of Westfield, New Jersey, died Sept. 23, 2014 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, on Feb. 17, 1931, he was the son of Stanley Sr. and Mary Searle Clark.

Educated in Connecticut schools, he was a graduate of Westminster Preparatory School in Simsbury, Connecticut, Class of ’50, and in 1954 graduated from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.

On January 15, 1955, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Charlon Cairns.

He served in the U.S. Army, and following his honorable discharge they lived in La Grange, Illinois and Shreveport, Louisiana before settling in Westfield, New Jersey.

Stanley spent his career in sales for the steel industry.

Throughout their life together they spent summers at their beloved Ocean Point in East Boothbay, where they met as teenagers. They moved to Maine year-round in 2012.

A talented athlete all his life, Stan played varsity football and baseball at Dartmouth, and golfed at courses all over the country.  He was proud to have “shot his age” into his 70s  and was a longtime member of the Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey.

He loved to boat and fish for stripers in the waters off Ocean Point.

Besides his loving wife of Boothbay, he is survived by a son, Brooks and wife Tina Clark of Buxton, a daughter, Cathryn (Catie) and husband Michael Salmon of Gloucester, Massachusetts, and two grandchildren, Charlotte Salmon and Andrew Clark.

He was predeceased by his son, Bayard Clark. A memorial service was held at the Wilson Memorial Chapel, Ocean Point, on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ocean Point Colony Trust, P.O.
