Stanley loved skiing, sailing, gardening, cooking, traveling, keeping up with friends, old and new and raising a family of four children.

Stanley was a huge supporter of Rotary. He was a Rotarian throughout most of his working life while living in the Kennebunks. He was known for hunting down Rotary meetings wherever he traveled, not wanting to miss a meeting, priding himself in almost near perfect attendance. He was instrumental in forming the Portside Rotary in Kennebunkport.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, and a grandson, Tyler Curtis Cole.

He is survived by four children, Peter Cole and his wife Karen of Southport, Jeffrey Cole and his wife Kathleen of Portland, Molly Hutchins and her husband Glen of Southport, Amy Bath and her husband William of Cape Porpoise; eight grandchildren, Lydia Cole, Doria Cole, Kalie Cole,
