Still time to enroll in CSC spring classes

Spring has come! And with it, there’s still time to enroll in a number of Coastal Senior College’s spring classes.

Ellen Goldsmith’s “Poetry: New Perspectives” will introduce poets to these apparent contradictions: Place and Displacement, Presence and Absence, Order and Chaos, on four Tuesdays, 1 to 3 p.m., in her home in Cushing, starting April 14. Memoir writing is in, currently, and Alice Dashiell’s “Gathering the Story You Have Within You” has long been a favorite class at CSC. Meets eight Thursdays, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Thomaston Public Library, starting April 9.

Why did the critics hate the early Impressionist painters. “Impressionism: Mostly Monet,” with Jane M. Roos, will answer that question, among others, on five Wednesdays, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Bremen Public Library, starting May 6. “How the Modern Documentary Can Shape the Public Mind,” presented by Bill Solomon, who teaches Media Studies at U. Maine-Orono, will give us a way to deepen our understanding of current events. Meets on Fridays, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Camden Library, starting April 3.

Dr. John Burris will explain “The Importance of the Heart and Lungs in Human Physiology,” a topic of concern to many of us starting April 2 on four Thursdays, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Chase Point, Miles Memorial Hospital Campus. Paul Kando, our favorite advocate for energy and sustainability, will present “Vexing Problems — Nature’s Answers,” or how we can adapt strategies of nature to our own needs on eight Fridays, 10 a.m. to noon, starting April 10 at the Nobleboro Town Hall.

Barbara LeGendre’s “Maine Voices! Commentary, Fiction, and Poetry by Acclaimed Maine Authors” will present a panorama of Maine Authors from Longfellow to Stephen King, May Sarton to E.B. White on Wednesdays, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Camden Library starting April 22 .
