Supporting Chris Johnson

    Dear Editor:

My name is Jessica Chubbuck. I am a former selectman for the town of Edgecomb.  During my two terms (six years) of service for the town, I had the great privilege of working with some wonderful people. State Senator Chris Johnson is one of those individuals. Even though I am a registered Republican and have not always voted for Senator Johnson, I have seen that he has never been afraid to reach across party lines to listen and help. Senator Johnson has been a strong and consistent advocate for small towns all across Maine.  He has consistently fought harmful legislation that would increase property taxes and cut spending for our schools.

As I was finishing my final term on the select board, a young veteran brought to my attention the struggles our disabled veterans face while transitioning back into civilian careers. His story inspired me to find a solution to the struggle our Maine veterans face. We began to call local legislators to ask for their help and to support our veterans by recognizing the hardships they face. When we contacted Senator Johnson, he not only listened, he took action. Senator Johnson tirelessly championed the development of the Veteran Friendly Workplace Award. He showed tremendous leadership, working with both parties  to put our veterans and their needs before party politics. Senator Johnson has proven himself as a hard-working public servant and a champion for Veterans in Maine.

Senator Johnson, this year you have earned more than just my vote, you have earned my respect. Thank you for your service and thank you for your support of our veterans.
