"Beauty and the Beast" - (PG) Based on Disney's 1991 animated classic with additional original music and several new songs, this is the fairy-tale story of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle's enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast's hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, plays Lefou, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson.

“Beauty & the Beast”  plays Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m.

“Get Out” - Featured earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, this comedy/horror film is written, produced and directed by Jordan Peele. It follows a young interracial couple who visit the mysterious estate of the woman's parents. 

Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.

With Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Stephen Root, Lakeith Stanfield and Catherine Keener.

The film’s approval rating of 99 percent based on 226 reviews, according to review site Rotten Tomatoes. The site's critical consensus reads, "Funny, scary, and thought-provoking, ‘Get Out’ seamlessly weaves its trenchant social critiques into a brilliantly effective and entertaining horror/comedy thrill ride.

“Get Out” (R), plays at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 7, Saturday, April 8, Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13, and Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m.

“I Due Foscarii” - An Italian opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi. Libretto by Francesco Maria Piave after “The Two Foscari” by Lord Byron. From Teatro alla Scala, Milan. Recorded in 2016. Here is Plácido Domingo’s latest conquest: the leading baritone role of Francesco Foscari in Verdi’s darkly atmospheric, melodically generous early opera set in the 15th century.

"I Due Foscari" (not rated) plays Wednesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. Opera tickets are available at the door: adults $16, Seniors/Youth $14, theatre members $12.

National Theatre Live: “Twelfth Night” - Tamsin Greig is Malvolia in a new twist on Shakespeare’s classic comedy of mistaken identity. A ship is wrecked on the rocks. Viola is washed ashore but her twin brother Sebastian is lost. Determined to survive on her own, she steps out to explore a new land. So begins a whirlwind of mistaken identity and unrequited love. Y-Arts presents: “Scary School, The Musical!” - Sophia Scott, Sarah Harris, and Trey Tibbetts will lead a cast of over 40 local youth in the musical premiere. From the composer of I Love Maine, Joel Biron, and with direction by Emily Mirabile, comes a new musical about teamwork, friendship, and celebrating who we are and where we come from. This collaborative production will feature youth from the Boothbay YMCA and the CLC YMCA. Shows: Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 8 at 1 and 6 p.m.

The Bolshoi Ballet : “A Hero of Our Time” - Pechorin, a young officer, embarks on a journey across the majestic mountains of the Caucasus, on a path set by his passionate encounters. Disillusioned and careless, he inflicts pain upon himself and the women around him. This is the final ballet of the 2016-17 season. (2 hours 45 minutes)Screening live Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m.

“The Salesman” (PG-13): Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Language Film. Forced to leave their collapsing house, Ranaa and Emad, an Iranian couple who happen to be performers rehearsing for Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" rent a new apartment from one of their fellow performers. Unaware of the fact that the previous tenant had been a woman of ill repute having many clients, they settle down. By a nasty turn of events one of the clients pays a visit to the apartment one night while Ranaa is alone at home taking a bath and the aftermath turns the peaceful life of the couple upside down. Seacoast Youth and Community Orchestras Spring Concert - Forty-plus 40-plus musicians, aged seven to over 80 perform in this free concert, Tuesday, April 11 at 7 p.m.

Talking Art in Maine, Intimate Conversations: Host Jane Dahmen’s guest is architect, writer,and artist Tom Hall. His landscapes are collages in water -based, mixed media. Wednesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. A free event.
