Two Bridges holiday craft fair Dec. 6

Two Bridges Regional Jail is holding a Craft Fair on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the facility on 522 Bath Road, Wiscasset, just off of Route 1.

Inmates at Two Bridges Regional Jail have been putting their time and creative talents to good use while incarcerated by producing small items for sale for $5 and up.

A partial list of items includes tail gating games, house wares, hostess gifts, toys, puzzles, men’s gifts, women’s gifts, novelty items and much, much more! Credit and debit cards will be accepted.

Two Bridges is the only county or regional jail in the State that has an Industries Program.

Many people are familiar with the State Prison’s showroom in Thomaston, but are not aware of the many beautiful and creative items at the new facility.

Because of the relatively short amount of time county inmates are incarcerated, they work on smaller wood items that can be completed within a few weeks.

“Inmates are paid by the hour for their work,” says Industries Supervisor Naomi Bonang, “and a percentage of the wages are taken out to go toward fines, restitution and room and board.

The Industries Program provides Inmates the opportunity to be successful and develop self-esteem for a job well done.

The mission of the Two Bridges Regional Jail is to protect the public; to provide a safe, secure, and professional environment which embraces direct supervision principles in the management of detainees; and, through role-modeling and programs, to equip detainees with the means to live a productive and law-abiding lifestyle.
