UPDATE: Boothbay fire off Pension Ridge Road may be related to earlier incident

Boothbay firefighters responded to an early morning fire off Pension Ridge Road Saturday. The road was blocked off and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies were also on the scene.

According to a press release from the LCSO Saturday morning, at approximately 10 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to what was initially reported as an individual who alleged they had been threatened with a firearm at their residence on Old County Road in Edgecomb.

As the investigation unfolded through the overnight hours, it took several twists and turns while the suspect was still at large, including a threat to harm himself; the original complainant’s vehicle and home being shot at with what investigators believe was a hunting rifle; a structure on the suspect’s property burning to the ground; and the suspect fleeing to another building on the same property, where ultimately he surrendered to the Maine State Police Tactical Team after having been talked out of the building by State Police negotiators.

As a result, Michael Holbrook, 46, of Boothbay was arrested on a warrant and charged with felony criminal threatening and terrorizing, both with a dangerous weapon. Deputies took him to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

It is unclear if the events are related to one another, as the investigation is still ongoing at this time.

The sheriff’’s office was assisted in Boothbay by Maine State Police, Boothbay Harbor Police Department., the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service. The Boothbay Fire Department was also at the scene and was assisted by both the Boothbay Harbor and Southport fire departments.

More information is likely as the investigation unfolds.
