UPDATE: Route 1 crash leaves cars in Wiscasset, Woolwich

Update: No one was hurt in an apparent road rage accident on Route 1 at the Wiscasset-Woolwich line Wednesday, June 6.

At 8:01 a.m., Sagadahoc County deputies, Wiscasset Police, Woolwich Fire, Wiscasset Fire and Northeast Ambulance responded to Route 1 at the town line for a reported personal injury accident.

Involved in the crash were Brittany O’Kelly, 25, of Bath, driving a 2012 Nissan four-door and a 17-year-old Damariscotta girl driving a 2004 Mazda four-door.

Neither person was injured. The investigation determined this was a road rage type of incident and as a result Brittany Kelly was cited for driving to endanger and the teen was cited for following too close.

The Nissan ended up on its side on the Wiscasset side of the town line and the Mazda came to a stop on the Woolwich side.

Traffic was held up about half an hour.

Original post: Traffic was expected to get moving again shortly, following a motor vehicle accident on Route 1 in Woolwich near the Wiscasset line Wednesday morning, Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

At about 8:40 a.m., traffic was backed up in Wiscasset as far north as Two Bridges Regional Jail.

The accident was reported at about 8 a.m. No details were available.
