    Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter to inform you as to why you should consider voting Kimberly Andersson for Wiscasset Selectman.

I have known Kim in a professional and personal capacity for many years and I have come to admire her insatiable drive to make a difference in our community.

I first met Kim several years ago when we became colleagues at the Wiscasset School Department. I was immediately impressed with Kim’s teaching style. She engaged students to want to learn, and came up with new unique ideas to educate them. Not only was Kim working for the school department, she was also working at taking courses to complete her teaching certification, and was holding the volunteer position as the chairperson of Partners in Education (PIE), which is a parent group that collaborates with the school department that works to improve Wiscasset schools through funding and volunteerism for enrichment programs and basic educational needs.

As a parent of a child enrolled in Wiscasset schools, I was impressed at Kim’s dedication to our community’s youth. Kim’s natural ability to build lasting relationships with other community members, non-profit organizations, and business enhanced learning by bringing forth new opportunities to our children. Kim’s vision to improve our schools, create new opportunities for businesses to come to Wiscasset, and create more community resources make her a standout candidate.

One of Kim’s major platforms is to increase community awareness and encourage others to get involved about what is going on at the town committee level. For the last several months, Kim has been attending all town committee meetings, then disseminating the information on her website and Facebook page (www.anderssonforwiscasset.com).  I have been living in Wiscasset for 14 years, and I have never felt so informed about what is going on at the town level. This website has been extremely helpful, especially for community members who want to be involved, but are unable to make various committee meetings.

If Kim is elected as a Wiscasset Selectman, I have no doubt that she will make a difference in our community. I am confident she will make a great mark on our town.
