WACC hosts second annual scarecrow contest

Mon, 10/02/2017 - 1:15pm

The Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce (WACC) will be hosting its annual Scarecrow Contest for area businesses and organizations. The goal is to line Route 1 with scarecrows to welcome visitors to town for ScarecrowFest. This event is done in collaboration with the town of Wiscasset’s annual ScarecrowFest, which takes place on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the town office, where participants line the lawn with scarecrows.

Businesses who would like to participate in the Chamber’s contest are asked to create their own scarecrow and display it outside their business. If you don’t have a location on Route 1, the WACC will provide a space on Route 1 for you. Poles will be provided.

Deadline for registration is Oct. 7. All scarecrows should be on display by Oct. 14 and be taken down no later than Oct. 28. All scarecrows will be judged for creativity and originality. Winners will be announced at the Chamber’s “Business Before Hours” event at Sarah’s Café on Oct. 19.

If your business would like to enter the contest, please contact the Chamber at info@wiscassetchamber.com or request an application by calling 882-9600.
