Walter R. Main

Walter Richard "Richie" Main died peacefully in his home on June 7, 2014 with his partner, Sally Guild, by his side.

He was born March 18, 1944 in Damariscotta to Harold Main and A. Lillian Sidelinger Main.

He attended Wiscasset schools and worked locally at The Ledges Inn.

In 1962, he went to Boston to work with his Uncle Kenny where he met and married Loretta Jeirles.

They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Pamela and Carol.

He returned to Wiscasset where he dug clams and worms and worked at the Messina Lumber sawmill.

Richie was a big help to his mother, pitching in to help with yard work and odd jobs.

He enjoyed working on old cars and going to yard sales.

He was predeceased by both of his parents and his stepfather, Carl J. Main.

Survivors include his partner of 36 years, Sally Guild of Wiscasset; his daughters, Pamela Main DiFonzio and Carol Main; his brothers, Harold E. Main and his wife Eldina Munsey Main of Boston, Mass., and Donald F. Main and his partner Shirley Goodger of Spencer, Okla.; his half-sister, Margaret M. Pafume and her husband Joseph of Hedley, Texas; half-brother, James C. Main and his wife Judi Cederlund Main of Wiscasset. These five were raised together by Carl and Lillian Main.

He is also survived by half-brothers, Phillip, Gary, Neal and Russell Main; an uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wiscasset, immediately followed by a celebration of his life at Jim and Judi Main's home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
