Dear Editor:

The Wiscasset Ambulance Service was founded by the townspeople in 1976.

For 39 years we have been together. We are that friendly, calming hand in the most terrifying situations. We make it a little less scary because we know almost every person in the community.

We were shocked to learn the budget committee and the town selectmen have brought up the idea to look into a private service to take over.

We, as an ambulance service, are not doing what we do to become rich. We do this because we love our community and the reward is seeing the comfort in our patient’s eyes when they see you coming to them and they realize that they know you.

In one way or another we know everyone in our community. We really need the townspeople to support us and help us save your ambulance service.

We need you to contact local officials and help us make a stand and voice an opinion that will be heard.
