Wiscasset considers fire truck repair

Tue, 01/21/2014 - 10:30am

A new oil pump for a Wiscasset Fire Department ladder truck will be up for discussion at the January 21 selectmen’s meeting.

The pump’s installation would provide enough power for the ladder to be lifted out of the truck bed, Fire Chief T.J. Merry states in a January 16 memo to selectmen. A joy stick that controls the ladder has had an issue, and can be examined once the ladder is lifted, the memo states.

The oil pump work has been estimated at about $4,000, according to the memo.

Also Tuesday night, selectmen will once again consider selling 25 Middle Street. Last year, the property had a prospective buyer but the sale didn’t go through. Before putting it on the market, selectmen had considered tearing down a home on the property to create a downtown parking lot.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 5:30 p.m., in the municipal building’s meeting room.
