A Wiscasset man has been and arrested and charged with four misdemeanors after he allegedly threatened to punch a woman in the face following a car accident.

Kyle Taylor, 31, of Wiscasset was charged with two counts of violating his terms of release, and criminal threatening after authorities responded to an accident in Wiscasset.

At 12:51 p.m. on Dec. 8, Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline responded to a car accident on Bath Road near Shady Lane.

When Cline arrived he found one car in a ditch and was advised by ambulance staff that one person had allegedly threatened a woman on scene.

When Cline spoke with Taylor, who had been identified as the man who had threatened the woman, Taylor reportedly denied threatening to punch the woman in the face.

Taylor reportedly told Cline that the woman who had accused Taylor of making threats had run up to him after the accident and yelled and screamed about an infant in her car.

When Cline spoke with the woman she claimed that Taylor had allegedly told her he was going to punch her in the face. When Cline spoke with the woman's boyfriend, he reportedly said he hadn't heard the threat. Another man on-scene reportedly heard the threat.

When Cline conducted a search of Taylor's vehicle, he reportedly found a bottle of prescription pills prescribed to a member of Taylor's family. Cline also reportedly found a marijuana pipe on Taylor's person.

Taylor was on bail conditions from a 2013 conviction of Class E theft by unauthorized taking. He pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor theft stemming from a Boothbay Harbor theft in February 2013.

Taylor was charged with Class D criminal threatening, Class E unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, and two Class E charges of violating the conditions of release. All charges are misdemeanors, with Class D crimes punishable by up to 364 days in jail and up to a $2,000 fine; Class E crimes carry a maximum penalty of six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.

Taylor pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Taylor was ordered to have no contact with the victim, and not to possess or consume drugs or alcohol. He will have a court date Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m.
