The Wiscasset Police Department recorded the following incidents in its log for Aug. 31-Sept. 7, including 55 property checks among other services:

Alarm, burglar

Patrolman Alfred Simmons checked on an alarm on Gibbs Road, which turned out to be a false alarm.

Sgt. Kathy Williams checked on an alarm on High Street, which the owner tripped by mistake.

Reserve Patrolman James Read checked on an alarm at Wiscasset High School, which motion in the new wing caused.

Assist citizen

Williams made an assist regarding a complaint about a man meandering around the downtown area of Wiscasset causing employees at Red’s Eats to feel uncomfortable.

Read investigated a complaint from a male Ward Brook Road resident about being harassed on Facebook via phone claiming a female was making up lies about him and talking about him.

Domestic disturbance

Patrolman Perry Hatch arrested Katherine M. Lindsey, 63, Wiscasset, at Whippoorwill Trailer Park on charges of domestic violence assault and cruelty to animals.

Fire

Police and fire responded to a fire on Gardiner Road at Fowles Hill Road behind a residence, which was extinguished. Homeowner was warned about burning demolition materials.

Found/lost property

Williams rendered service to a person who lost a wallet. The wallet was found at the Wiscasset Playground on Gardiner Road and brought to the police dept.

Harassment

Hatch investigated a report from a resident about his son being harassed by other students at Wiscasset High School.

Loud noise/shots fired

Hatch responded to a complaint from a teacher at Wiscasset High School about hearing shots fired in the area. Hatch investigated but he determined the complaint was unfounded.

Read responded to a complaint about someone hearing gun shots from the Clarks Point Road area, but he could not locate anything.

Medical emergency

Hatch responded to a call concerning a female, 72, on Lowelltown Road, who was unconscious/fainting. Subject was transported to Mid Coast Hospital.

Simmons responded to a call concerning a female, 46, on Willow Lane having difficulty breathing. No transportation was necessary.

Simmons responded to a call concerning a male, 46, on Danforth Street, who fell hitting his forehead and was transported to a hospital.

Read responded to a call concerning a male, 65, on Middle Street who had drill bit stuck in his wrist and was taken to Mid Coast Hospital.

Sgt. Jason Nein issued a warning for brake light defect on Main Street

Simmons issued a warning for defect on Bath Road near Pro Body Works.

Simmons issued a warning for speed on Bath Road near Wiscasset Ford.

Simmons issued a warning for speed on Bath Road near Holbrook Pond.

Simmons issued a warning for speed on Bath Road near Holbrook Pond.

Simmons issued a warning for expired license on Water Street near waterfront.

Patrolman Donald Smith issued a warning for operating without headlights on Main Street.

Hatch issued a warning for inspection on Bath Road near Holbrook Pond.

Simmons issued a warning for speed on Fowle Hill Road.

Simmons issued a warning for speed on Alna Road.

Mitkus issued a warning for vehicle registration on Bath Road.

Reserve Patrolman Donald Hatch issued a citation for speed on Bath Road near Avalon Antiques.

Simmons issued a citation for speed on Federal Street.

Williams issued a warning for vehicle defect on Gardiner Road near Wiscasset Primary School.

Police information

Caller reported a male in late 20s with beard followed her from Dresden to Richmond in a Toyota Tacoma truck. She said she pulled over to let him pass but instead he stopped behind her vehicle. She then said she yelled to him and asked why he was following her, and he said, “I thought you were following me.”

Caller stated she reported the incident to the state but wanted to make Wiscasset and Dresden units aware.

Simmons and Williams investigated a report about an adult male walking on railroad tracks on Birch Point Road.

Perry Hatch responded to a call about diggers parking on the Chewonki Foundation property ignoring the no trespassing sign. Subjects could not be located.

Read responded to a call about a loud boom someone heard on Federal Street and flames seen through the woods, which turned out to be a bonfire.

Suspicious activity

Simmons investigated a report of a man sitting in the road on Hodge Street and yelling in that area. All clear, nothing further given.

Simmons investigated a report of someone sleeping on a bench at Wiscasset Clipper Mart, whom he moved along.

Welfare check

Williams investigated a report of a man on Gardiner Road who said he was going to take his own life and had left a car he was living in to hitchhike to Portland. Later subject communication with mother said he is fine and waiting for a train.
