The Wiscasset Police Department has hired Thomas Hoepner as its new School Resource Officer (SRO).

Hoepner comes to the department with a long history of law enforcement service. Most recently he worked as a Judicial Marshal at the West Bath District Court.

Hoepner also has approximately nine years of SRO experience. He was the SRO for the town of Waldoboro for approximately five years at Medomak Valley High School.

He was also the SRO and DARE officer for Damariscotta for approximately three years. He worked for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as the SRO at Lincoln Academy for one year.

Hoepner also has grant writing experience that the department hopes to put to use to assist with anticipated projects with the school department.

Hoepner will begin work on Monday, Aug. 31, and will begin with swearing in with the town. He will also complete required in-processing paperwork and be assigned his equipment.

“I expect SRO Hoepner to begin work in the schools later that week,” Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline said. “We are excited to have him join the Wiscasset PD team.”
