Wiscasset Senior Center: Get holiday plans set

Sat, 12/20/2014 - 10:00am

Last week I asked what is happening at the Senior Center. Unfortunately, I was unable to get to the Wednesday evening dinner, but I was able to find out a little bit. Many things are being considered but there are no specific plans. Everyone seems to be involved in getting set for Christmas and the new year so specific planning for activities is delayed until January.

There are many things the Senior Center could do for future activities. Just thinking about the past, I came up with this list: speakers like the new town manager, new town planner, the police chief or the Lincoln County Emergency Management director, entertainment like singing groups, trips for lunch in Portland or a trip to the slots.

What would you like to see? If you have some ideas or specific suggestions speak to Carl Hewitt, chairman of the trustees, or any trustee. Now is the time to let your ideas become known so when the trustees start putting plans together your ideas will be included.

The weather kept me from attending the cribbage tournaments on Tuesday, Dec. 9 and Thursday, Dec. 11 so there are no scores. I did try to get there Thursday and actually started out but only made it a couple of miles before turning around and going home. The rain and snow made it extremely difficult for me to see the road. I had planned to set up a system to get the scores but never had the chance to get it set.

There will be no Wednesday evening dinners for the next two weeks because of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The next dinner will be on Wednesday evening Jan. 7, 2015.
