The Wiscasset Wine Outlet was auctioned off by the Bank of Maine, March 13, for $25,000, plus back taxes. The high bidder was Cecilio Juntura, the owner of the Taste of the Orient Restaurant, and the Schooner Inn, located on Route 1 in Wiscasset.

During a telephone interview with Juntura, he said he plans to open a restaurant with a menu of steak and seafood, similar to the former Canfield’s Restaurant that was once located on the site.

According to Wiscasset’s Accessing Agent Sue Varney, the property and building is assessed at $114,700. There are back taxes amounting to $3,776.95, plus $25.96 in personal property taxes due.

Juntura said he is hoping to have his new business open before summer.
