HP Hood, has awarded three Maine high school seniors, Briana Goud of Wiscasset, Trevor Lyford of Lagrange and Kevin Kingsbury of Augusta, with a $5,000 college scholarship in recognition of their integrity and sportsmanship on and off the field.

These students are among 18 high school seniors across New England (three from each New England state) selected by the Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship program presented by Hood Milk.

During a May 17 ceremony at the Liberty Hotel in Boston, former Bruins player Gord Kluzak spoke to them about the importance of sportsmanship and Vice President of Hood, Jeff Kanab presented them with their $5,000 check.

The Maine winners, along with the other honorees, will also be recognized with a special display inside the country’s only Sportsmanship Exhibit, which is housed at The Sports Museum at the TD Garden.

Hood has always been a strong community partner and has an ongoing commitment to their scholarship program and supporting New England students. In it’s fifth year, HP Hood received more than 3,400 entries. Ten finalists in each state determined by a general public vote, which was followed by in-person interviews by a panel of judges who identified the top three in each state.

“Sportsmanship was always at the forefront of my athletic career. It is something that defines an athlete and stays with them both on and off the field,” said Kluzak. “Because of that, I am honored to be a part of a scholarship program that not only celebrates, but rewards, sportsmanship and those in our communities that embody it.”
