One-third of child pedestrian fatalities occur during after-school hours
As 55 million children across the country begin heading back to school, AAA urges motorists to slow down and stay alert in neighborhoods and school zones, and to be especially vigilant for pedestrians during before-school and after-school hours. Wiscasset Elementary traffic plans set for Aug. 31 opening
When school starts at Wiscasset Elementary School on Aug. 31, the former Wiscasset Middle School will nearly double in students and rise in staff by about one-third over last year. Set for Success succeeds
The Set for Success community school supply event extraordinaire at the Boothbay Region YMCA drew a huge crowd on Sunday afternoon, including Gov. Paul and first lady Ann LePage.
By 2 p.m., well over 300 hundred children and their families had entered the YMCA field house and were happily mingling, perusing all the back-to-school supplies and visiting the many community booths.

Wiscasset students ‘summer up’
Hunter Giroux, 6, of Wiscasset was measuring distances on paper Aug. 6 in “Brownie” feet.
