Jean Elizabeth (Chapman) Merton, 94, of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts died peacefully September 25, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Mass.
Born in Springfield to the late Kenneth and Marion (Reed) Chapman, she graduated from the High School of Commerce, Springfield in 1939 and Charles Choate Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Woburn, Mass., in 1944.

Jack L. Nisbet, 78, of Boothbay, Maine died Sept. 24, 2016 after a brief illness.
Jack was born in Augusta, Maine on March 7, 1938 to parents Arthur and Ann (Campbell) Nisbet. Jack was the husband of Leona “Lee” Attenasio Nisbet.

Joan Marie Rubel of Sarasota, Florida and Boothbay Harbor, Maine died Sept. 23 after battling Alzheimer’s disease for several years.
She is survived by her husband, Philip; three daughters, Susanne, Karina and Natalie; grandson, Sebastian; and extended family.

Charlotte Irma Harold Druce, 92, died Sept. 25, 2016 in the Gregory Wing, St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor after a 12-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Charlotte was born Jan. 24, 1924 in Roxbury, Massachusetts to Raymond and Myrtle Rice Harold. Charlotte graduated cum laude in 1944 from Mount Holyoke College with a major in physics/astronomy.

Douglas E. Peaslee Sr., 86, of Jefferson died September 23, 2016 in Jefferson at his daughter Shirley’s home, where he was surrounded by family.
Douglas was born April 13, 1930 in Somerville to Guy and Leola Benner Peaslee. Douglas grew up in Somerville and attended local schools. He started working in the woods at the age of 13.

She was born March 22, 1940 in Bucksport, Maine to the late Richard and Julia (Gerrish) Barker.
She was a longtime resident of Wiscasset and graduated from Wiscasset High School.
She was a homemaker and resident of Irving, Texas for 33 years.

Ethel Cecile Stover, 83, of Sand Hill Road, Wiscasset died Sept. 10, 2016. The daughter of Paul J. McCarthy and Helen Pappas Hume, she was born in Hartford, Connectitut moving to Maine in her teenage years.
Ethel worked for the late Dr. John Andrews as office manager for 30 years in Boothbay Harbor, and previously had been postmaster of Wiscasset and of Edgecomb.

She was born in Neustadt a.d. Weinstrasse, Germany on Oct. 27, 1927 to Heinrich and Paula Albrecht. She grew up amid the turmoil of World War II. She is known for her speeches to local schools and civic groups of life during that period.

Howard Singer, 90, of Houston, Texas and a longtime summer resident of Spruce Point, Boothbay Harbor, Maine, died Sept. 10, 2016.
He was born May 15, 1926 in Larchmont, New York.
A Navy man during World War II, he was pre-flight at North Carolina University until the war ended, and he completed his college years at Duke and Yale, where he played football and earned his degree in engineering before settling in Houston.

Lee was born Dec. 13, 1922 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Harold and Gladys (Semons) Leland. She graduated from Belmont High School in the class of 1941. She attended Cushing Academy in 1942 and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston in 1943.

Nancy Bass Wolfram, who died Aug. 23, 2016, was born to Catherine Forbush Bass and George Henry Bass, 2nd, in Brockton, Massachusetts because the town doctor at home in Wilton, Maine had left for military service. Nancy returned to Wilton days later when able to travel. Her father, himself born in Maine, liked to comment that, although not a Maine native, she had many relatives and friends in the state.

Dale Jeffery Stone died Aug. 22, 2016.
He was born Feb. 2, 1994 in Brunswick to Jeffery Burnham and Dixie Stone.
Dale grew up in Boothbay and attended local schools. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” and worked doing various odd jobs, including auto mechanics and carpentry. He enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling and listening to music.

Eleanor W. “Ellie” Jordan, 99, died peacefully Aug. 18, 2016 at Evergreen Woods, North Branford, Connecticut, her home for many years.
She was a former resident of New Haven and Sachems Head, Connecticut. She summered for most of her life on Linekin Bay, and for 85 years in Bayville, Maine, where her extended family settled around her.

Laurel Ann Elderkin-Graham died peacefully at home on Aug. 8, 2016, the same day her dad George “Pat” Elderkin passed 25 years earlier. She was constantly surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born Oct. 18, 1955 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine and attended Southport Central School before going to and graduating from Boothbay Region High School in 1974. She attended and graduated Stevens School of the Bible in Lenox, Massachusetts in 1978.

A graveside service and burial for Harold “Robbie” Robinson, 88, of Boothbay Harbor, who died peacefully in his sleep on November 28, 2015, will be held Friday, July 29 at 10 a.m. at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. A motorcycle escort by the Legion Riders will be escorting Robbie for his Last Ride from the American Legion Hall in Boothbay, leaving at 8:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to be in the procession is welcome.

Dr. Stella Clifford Gray, 96, of East Boothbay, died peacefully on May 31, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 5 p.m. at the East Boothbay Methodist Church, Two Church Street, East Boothbay. All are welcome.

On a warm summer’s day at the end of June, Stephanie Berry peacefully ended her lifelong battle with depression. She separated from her only child, William, her friend and former husband, Tom, and her cat, Panda.
Stephanie was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania and attended schools in Avon Lake, Ohio. She graduated from Kent State University with a degree in interior design. She was very proud of her years marching drum corps, competing at the national level, with the Garfield Cadets.
