    Marguerite “Peggy” Guilmette Sherman was born on May 28, 1928 in Berlin, New Hampshire. After a long and successful life in Boothbay Harbor, Maine and a comfortable stay at Chase Point Assisted Living in Damariscotta, Maine, she died on April 14, 2016 at the age of 87. She fought a valiant fight to the end and showed us all what it means to be strong.

    She was a devoted wife, proud and loving mother and grandmother of two.

    Gloria was born in Boothbay Harbor on October 17, 1952, the daughter of Edwin L. Brewer Sr. and Lorraine (Emmet) Brewer.

    Mildred Lenore Johnson, 85, died March 10, 2016 at Autumn House West in York, Pennsylvania after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

    She was the wife of the late Phil H. Tindall and the late B. Vann Johnson.

    She was born June 16, 1930 in Farmerville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Dane and Esther Garwood.

    She was the owner and operator of Mid Tour Guide in York, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Junior League of York.

    Harland B. Rice

    Harland B. Rice, 83, of Brunswick died April 4, 2016.

    He was born in Boothbay Harbor on June 27, 1932, a son of the late Carl and Idelin (Woodard) Rice.

    As a young man Harland worked in Boothbay at his family’s shipyard, and after his service in the U.S. Army, he worked as a caretaker at Squirrel Island. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

    Harland married Louise Lent on July 4, 1980 and she predeceased him on April 14, 2015.

    Lois was born to Roy and Ethel Snow Peterson on January 29, 1928 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She graduated from Hamilton High School, and following a four-year engagement, married Howard T. Wills on February 26, 1949.

    She was born on June 9, 1928 to Clarence Poore and Ida (Hutchins) Poore of Boothbay. Eldora was the only child of Clarence and Ida, and went to local schools. Eldora’s father died when she was very young and she was raised by her mother, Ida, and her grandmother, Lavina.

    At her bedside were her children, Phoebe A. Eldridge of Newark, Delaware, Matthew V. Eldridge of Boothbay, Elizabeth Po-Yan Eldridge of Canton, Ohio and Jonathan O. Eldridge of Brattleboro, Vermont.

    Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving husband, John E. Eldridge, as well as her sisters, Ruth Walsh and Faith Gagnier, and her brother, David Chicoine.

    Allan was born November 20, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio to Margaret (Emmons) and Clarence Strouss, who predeceased him.

He graduated from University of Maine in Orono with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology.
