Judy Mandell Danforth, 88, a long-time Westwood, Massachusetts resident and Squirrel Island summer resident, died peacefully on Oct. 22, 2014.
Danforth was born in Newton, Massachusetts on April 14, 1926. She attended Brimmer and May School and Connecticut College. Danforth married John Loring Danforth (died in 2010) of Buffalo, New York, on March 13, 1947. They moved to Westwood in 1954.

Jennie Adeline “Jane” Hutchins, 85, died at Safe Havens in Boothbay Harbor on Oct. 26, 2014.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1928 in Portland, the daughter of the late Clarence and Lola (Reed) Morrison.
Jane attended Boothbay Harbor High School. After graduating, she met and married Duane I. Hutchins. Jane was a mainstay at Porter’s Drugstore, which later was known as Downeast Pharmacy. She worked there for 50 years.

Eunice M. Adams, formerly of Wiscasset, died Oct. 26, 2014 at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Laplata, Maryland.
Eunice was born Aug. 10, 1918 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Tripp) Nerbonne.

Earl Bassett, 53, of Wiscasset died peacefully at his home on Oct. 17, 2014 with his loving family by his side.
He was born Jan. 25, 1961 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Earle and Josephine (Company) Bassett. Earl grew up in Nazareth and Newburg, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Nazareth High School class of 1978.

Rona Mary Metcalf, a resident of Southport since 1979, died of natural causes on Oct. 4 at her home, surrounded by her children. She was 85.
Born in Winchester, Massachusetts to Wilfred Roberts and Mary Wolejko, Rona attended local schools there, before attending Westbrook Junior College in Maine. In 1947 she married Rowe B. Metcalf Jr., who died in 2012 in Boothbay Harbor.

Wilhelmus “Wil” Kool, 87, of Alna, died at his home on Sept. 27, 2014, with his wife of 65 years by his side.
Born on Sept. 26, 1927 in Delft, Holland, he was the son of Cornelius Johannes and Agatha Maria Kool.
Wil grew up in Holland and attended schools there until he joined the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps during World War II, where he served mainly in Indonesia. Upon the completion of the war, he met his wife, Aleida Harmsen, and the two would marry on June 29, 1949.

Robert S. "Bob" Reed Jr., of Wiscasset died suddenly of a heart attack on Sept. 17, 2014. He had recently arrived to his seasonal job in Iowa working for a nuclear power plant.
Robert was born in Boothbay Harbor on Nov. 8, 1954 to his parents, Robert Reed Sr. and Judith Rines Reed.

Joseph Armand Melanson, 82, died peacefully at his home in Boothbay on Sept. 28, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Armand was born Oct. 26, 1931 in Lynn, Massachusetts, the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Cormier) Melanson. Growing up in Lynn, Armand attended local schools and was a graduate of St. Jeans School with the class of 1950.

She was born May 8, 1940 in Waterville to Kenneth and Elnora (Thomas) Shaw.
Sandra grew up in Oakland, Maine, and was a graduate of Williams High School. She was an excellent seamstress and worked for Hathaway Shirt Factory.

Donald Hugh Hardwick died peacefully at his home on Sept. 10, 2014 with his devoted daughter Sandra by his side.
Donald was born Dec. 26, 1922 in Boothbay Harbor, to Roy Forthsye and Agnes Jean (Whitman) Hardwick. He grew up and attended school in Boothbay until he graduated in 1941.

Liam Alan Lewis passed peacefully in the arms of his loving parents on Sept. 21, 2014 at Maine Medical Center. Liam was born Aug. 19, 2014.
During Liam's short 33 days here on earth with us, this very tiny little boy left such a huge impact on so many hearts near and far. He is profoundly loved by friends and family and will be forever remembered.

Nancy Jeanne Roberts, 74, of Boothbay Harbor died peacefully at her home on Sept. 11, 2014. She was born on June 22, 1940 in New London, Connecticut.
Nancy moved to Maine at an early age, spending most of her formative years on Barters and Hodgdon Islands in Boothbay. She played basketball and acted in her senior play, graduating from Boothbay Region High School in 1958.

A celebration of life for Dwight Brown, who died Aug. 27, 2014, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14.
At 4 p.m., immediate family will be departing for a memorial boat ride to Linekin Bay to spread his ashes. Family and friends will then gather at Barrett’s Park in Boothbay Harbor for a potluck meal and celebration of his life.

Joseph Frank Fodera, 91, died Aug. 26, 2014, at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, after a long respiratory illness.
He was born Nov. 12, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to Vincent Fodera and Vita Giola (translated Joy of Life) who were Sicilian immigrants from a town near Palermo, Sicily.
Joe was proud of his Sicilian heritage. He was known for saying “There are two kinds of Italians: Sicilians and those that want to be.”

Kathleen Watts Adams of Boothbay Harbor died peacefully early Sunday morning, August 17, 2014.
She was born in Boothbay Harbor on June 13, 1916, the daughter of Robert B. Watts and Rachel Bowman Watts. She was married to Lewis W. Adams on May 29, 1941. After the sudden death of her father, she and her husband operated the Watts Taxi Service from their office on Commercial Street in Boothbay Harbor until 1954.

Joan Warland Leslie, 92, daughter of Marion Sortwell Warland and William Seaver Warland, died August 4, 2014 in Brunswick. She was born November 30, 1921, in Boston and grew up in Wiscasset and Cambridge, Mass., also spending periods of her childhood in Bermuda and Rome. She was the granddaughter of Alvin Foye Sortwell, the mayor of Cambridge, whose mother came from Wiscasset; and she spent many happy hours in his summer home, the Nickels-Sortwell House in Wiscasset.
