    Florence Lillian (Barlow) Haggett died peacefully on March 10, 2018 at the remarkable age of 105.

    Born in East Boothbay, Maine on Nov. 13, 1912, she lived in Boothbay Harbor, Maine until her 100th birthday.

    She was one of six children born to Luther and Lillian Barlow. She was predeceased by brothers, Richard, Arthur, Wendell and Elliott, and her sister Katherine as well as her husband Gilbert Mather Haggett.

    Edward W. DeCosta Jr.

    Edward W. DeCosta Jr., 89, of Boothbay, died peacefully on March 7, 2018 at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, with his family by his side.

    Ed was born on Jan. 5, 1929 in Boothbay Harbor to Edward W. DeCosta Sr. and Esther (Pratt) DeCosta. He attended local schools and went on to enlist in the Marines, serving in World War II and the Korean War. Ed later returned to Boothbay and in 1956 married Nancy M. Cunningham, also of Boothbay, where they started their family.

    Nathan Edwin Brewer, 30, died March 5, 2018 at his mother’s home in Wiscasset.

    Nathan was born on June 27, 1987 in Boothbay Harbor to Edwin L. Brewer Jr. and Pauline (Barter) Brewer. He graduated from Boothbay Region High School in the class of 2005. Nathan was very excited to be accepted in the CMCC welding program, which he was to begin in April.

    Gertrude "Trudie" Seybold of Boothbay died peacefully at her home in Boothbay on March 1. Trudie had lived in Boothbay on Back Narrows Road for three years with her daughter Patty Seybold, and before that summered in Boothbay while she lived for 26 years at the Quadrangle retirement community in Haverford, Pennsylvania.

    Trudie was married to John Warren Seybold for almost 68 years. He predeceased her in 2004 at the age of 88. Her only brother, Webster Blood, also predeceased her.

    Bob was born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 21, 1936 to Edward F. and Gertrude (Ensco) Cole. He attended Spring Glen Elementary School, graduated from Hamden High School and received his BS and MBA degrees from New Haven College (now University of New Haven). He was later awarded an honorary doctorate from The University of New Haven.

    For many years, Gene worked for Conley’s Garden Center. He also worked for both the Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor public works departments and the Dead River company. He also worked in many area shipyards and enjoyed working on cars.

    Maxine Tourtillotte, a lifelong resident of Boothbay Harbor, died peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 18.

    Maxine was born on March 4 1923, the only child of Earle and Myra Carleton. She graduated from Boothbay Harbor High school and went one year to secretarial school and then went to work for Sample’s Shipyard. She spent the next 45 years of her life working for the shipyard that changed hands once during her career at the yard.

    Frederick R. Hart III, 80, of Wiscasset, died peacefully on the morning of Feb. 11, 2018 near his home in Maine.

    Fred was born on July 1, 1937, in Concord Massachusetts, to Fred and Lois Hart.  He briefly attended the University of Miami and later graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Fred proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Nova Scotia, Canada.

    He was born on Dec. 19, 1925 in Hackensack, New Jersey, the son of Leroy and Marie Yereance.

    He was a graduate of Woodridge High School, Class of 1943. He first met his wife in kindergarten; they went through school together.

    Paul served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Robert G. Durgin, American Legion Post #67 in Newmarket. He was a life member of the NRA.

    Anita was a lifelong resident of the Boothbay area and had many dear friends. She enjoyed working at First Federal Savings and Loan and participated in social and community activities sponsored by the bank.

    Anita married James “Jimmy” Hodgdon on July 7, 1987. They raised many furry family members and enjoyed fishing and beach combing together.
