“The Banshee” up for auction

I’m happy to be one of 40 artistic creators using Coastal Mountain Land Trust’s rough cut wood slabs to be auctioned off at the “Our Mountain Voices” art and music show tonight at the Camden Opera House. The Banshee is one of my Wee Folk Dresses and I’ll update this with a story tomorrow, but here’s a couple of photos.

Go and enjoy the show and every piece of art you buy benefits a major project that CMLT is doing to preserve the woods and water for us!

The Banshee

This suspended “Wee Folk” fairy dress is named for the Irish fairy who has grown solitary with sorrow. She shows up at the moment of death and wails out her grief. Some say she is really a ghost, wronged by an ancestor of the dying.  It is crafted from decayed leaf and dried brambles.  Her "wings" are made from collected bird feathers. Buried beneath the wood slab is a tiny, red LED light that can be clicked on, turning her sinister heart light on at the moment of someone's impending death. Created exclusively for Coastal Mountain Land Trust's "Ragged Wood Art Project.
