Join us for a free presentation on the Burnt Island Lighthouse and the Maine State Aquarium
Elaine Jones has served as the Department of Marine Resources’ Education Director for the past 28 years. She was responsible for designing and constructing the Maine State Aquarium prior to acquiring and transforming the Burnt Island Lighthouse into an educational and recreational facility.
On Thursday, February 28th, Elaine will share her journey as a marine and maritime educator. She and her assistant Desiree Genthner will bring live ocean critters for the residents to see, touch and learn about. She will also share photos about the history of Burnt Island Light and efforts underway to restore it for its 200th Anniversary in 2021.
