Fiddle Workshop with Greg Boardman! This workshop takes place at the Broad Bay Church, 941 Main St.

Lewiston, ME-born fiddler Greg Boardman has been one of northern New England's most influential musicians. Taught the intricacies of regional "Down East" fiddling by Otto Saper and Simon St. Pierre, Boardman has continued to share what he's learned. The founder of the Maine Fiddle Camp, he was the editor of Here's to Every Country Dancer: The Music of Dudley Laufman, which featured 13 dance tunes and two songs by contredanse musician and caller Laufman. Singing in French since childhood, Boardman has continued to study Franco-American musical traditions. His album, Chantons, recorded with guitar, spoons, and jaw harp player; vocalist; and foot tapper Michael Parent, focused on traditional French songs. The bulk of Boardman's repertoire consists of his interpretations of traditional fiddle tunes. Century Reel was recorded during a performance in the Olin Arts Center at Bates College. In Came a Fiddler, recorded with pianist Jan Sturtevant, featured music by Christopher Schario that appeared in a musical production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Boardman teaches fiddle and traditional music in the Auburn, ME, area.

Registration per person is $10. The workshop will be limited to 20 participants. To purchase online, go to: https://waldotheatreinc.thundertix.com/events/204164. Tickets may be available at the door, but only if the workshop is not full.
